Who We Are

Our camp staff for HPPA 2023

Brandon Worf

Camp Director

Brandon returns as the director of HPPA in its fourth iteration. By day, he is a senior software engineer in Kansas City, Missouri. On the side, he has been volunteering as a percussion instructor and tech for Garden City Community College since 2016, instructing the drumline during marching season and providing virtual lessons to percussion studio students. He is a regular member of the American Legion Band of Greater Kansas City in Overland Park, KS.

Brandon attended GCCC before transferring to Fort Hays State University for percussion performance, where he was involved in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz II, Fort Hays Singers and Concert Choir, Hays Symphony Orchestra, Hays First United Method Church handbell choir, and the FHSU marching band and pep band, serving for 2 years as section leader.

He lives in the Kansas City area with his wife and son, and has a healthy obsession with drum corps and WGI, while pretending to be interested in Formula 1 and IndyCar racing, photography, and too many other expensive and time-consuming hobbies.

Dawson Leffingwell

Assistant Camp Director

Joining us for his second year with the program, Dawson Leffingwell is currently a percussion educator in Muskogee, Oklahoma. In this role, he oversees the marching percussion program, teaches junior high percussion, assists with the high school colorguard, and teaches music appreciation.

In addition to public education, Dawson is also an integral staff member at Oklahoma American Legion Boys State, a youth leadership program based at Rogers State University. Dawson is currently the band director for the program.

Dawson is a 2021 graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education, where he was involved with the Oklahoma State University Cowboy Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble and the Frontiers New Music Ensemble.

Outside of collegiate music, Dawson has sought out several unique independent performance opportunities. He performed with Resistance Indoor Percussion (Tulsa, OK) from 2016-2019 as a rack percussionist and a snare drummer. Additionally, he aged out as a snare player with Compass Drum & Bugle Corps (Midland, TX) in 2021.
